What’s this about?
Welcome to my newsletter! I’m Lucy in Love, a content creator and matchmaker in Washington, DC. If you’re receiving this, you opted in to join this newsletter when you signed up for matchmaking or an event - thank you! There’s an opt out at the bottom if this isn’t your vibe.
I plan to use this newsletter to share matchmaking updates, information on pop culture and dating events, content updates, and interesting things I see, think, or feel in the dating space. I’ll send these about 1-4 times a month. You can also see what I’m doing on TikTok and Instagram.
So if you are single - or an ally to your single friends - this newsletter is for you.
Matchmaking
I run District Cupid - a social project that sets up blind dates in Washington, DC. The next round of District Cupid blind date matchmaking will be for Earth Day! Earth Day is Wednesday, April 22nd. Folks should apply by April 18th to be considered for the Earth Day round of District Cupid.

How does this work?
Apply for a blind date by filling out the District Cupid matchmaking application. If I have a match for you, I will email you on Earth Day with next steps to set it up!
This is focused on single people who are looking for serious relationships, and its open to all ages 18+ and all gender identities and sexual orientations. Most people who apply are in their 20s and 30s, but I’ll absolutely set up an older pair if two compatible people apply.
If you have applied to District Cupid this calendar year, I am keeping your application in the pool, and you don’t need to apply again to be considered for the upcoming round. If you applied for the 12 Dates of Christmas (applications in December, dates in January), you need to apply again in the new form.
This round is special for two reasons:
1) it’s Earth Day themed! In this round, folks will be able to opt in to an Earth Day-related volunteer opportunity as their first date! Here’s where I need your help: if you know of a great volunteer opportunity, like a park cleanup or community garden shift, let me know! For folks who don’t opt in, it will be a more typical first date activity, like drinks/coffee/dinner.
2) In this round, I aim to set up a LOT of LGBTQ+ dates! My goal is to have half of the matches be LGBTQ+.
Send this to a friend who should apply!
My next event
I’m hosting a Heated Rivalry Lookalike Contest TODAY - Saturday, April 4, at 4 pm at Wunder Garten. RSVP on Partiful here. Entry is free.
We are looking for both Shane and Ilya lookalikes! While we love when folks RSVP, walk-in contestants are welcome as well.
The prize is pretty great: a pair of tickets to a Nats game, a pair of tickets to a concert at The Anthem or 9:30 club, and a cabana plus a round of drinks for up to 10 at Wunder Garten.
The audience will be the judge of the contest, and I’ll have singles wristbands available, so if you’re coming to find a Shane or Ilya of your own to take to the cottage, look for them in green wristbands.
It’s part of an all-day Heated Rivalry takeover at Wunder Garten - from noon to midnight there will be Heated Rivalry events! Stop by at some point to be part of the merriment! And if you haven’t watched Heated Rivalry…come to the dark side. ASAP. It’s fun over here.
